Ah, I love this tale. I should read it again, it transported me so well the first time.
How comes the super-extended version? If there's more, I should dearly love to read it.

Hey Will, thanks for commenting,
I guess the ending is quite vague - I think I wrote this is the beginning of something longer and then trimmed it back into a short story. The idea at the end is that whatever malevolent force exists in the Ant Tower releases Parkin on the promise that he will become an avatar of the Tower and hunt down the magician. So begins a long quest for revenge.
I've been tossing up for months whether to expand this into a full novel. Maybe next year!
Cheers,
Ruz

Fantastic to read although i feel stupid to admit i am slightly confused by the ending. Did the tower just take him down to the ground where the armour lay and he goes off and that is that? What happened to the magician...stupid questions yes but anyway i thought it was a fantastic story. Great work.

Thanks Merrilee! Glad you enjoyed it. I guess the middle needs a snipping then before I send it out.

Wow. I really enjoyed that, even though it was harsh and bitter. Slow middle but a lovely rushing finale.
